Three people were wounded, one of them very seriously, in a shooting incident on Monday afternoon in the Barriada de los Poetas area of Nerja.
At around 17:30, a vehicle entered the area and drove towards a group of people gathered in the street. Shots were then fired from the vehicle and three people were injured, one of them, a 32 year old local resident, with a very serious wound to the neck. He is now in hospital in Málaga.
Another of the injured, a 25 year old Nerja resident, was hit in the abdomen and underwent surgery at the Hospital Comarcal in Vélez-Málaga. The third victim, a 32 year old Torrox resident, was shot in the ankle.
The motive for the shooting is not yet known. The street where the incident took place is frequently the scene of police raids relating to drug trafficking.
