Good Samaritan residential home

The Good Samaritan residential home in urbanisation Almijara, overlooking the rio Chillar, opened earlier this year after a decade of construction.

The home has 64 places divided over four floors and covers an area of 2,000 square metres. At the moment, there are only 17 residents, these being from both inside and outside the municipality, which is insufficient given the costs involved in maintaining the facility.

The Junta de Andalucia has apparently stated that under the present financial climate, they are unable to sign any more agreements relating to further occupancy. To complete the residential home, a €1.5 million loan was taken out with the Cajamar bank and this has to be repaid. To be a viable financial option, the home needs to have at least 25 residents.

The management of the home now intends to try and attract new residents through a promotional campaign in surrounding municipalities.
