Never a dull moment with the sewage plant saga

There are apparently conflicting, and obviously disturbing, reports as to whether or not the State Budget for Málaga for 2013 includes provision for the proposed sewage plant in Nerja.

According to the Council, however, there is definitely money available in the 2013 budget to begin the project, the amount being €2.5 million. The total budget for the plant is €19 million, exclusive IVA, although it is widely accepted that this is a totally unrealistic figure and the actual cost could be in the region of €60 to €80 million.

According to the PP Government in Málaga, there is no specific or detailed amount in the State Budget 2013 for the sewage plant but, there is €2.543 million in credit retentions in the accounts of the public company ACUAMED under the generic label of Desalination of the Costa del Sol which can be used for this purpose.

Most other major items, such as improvements to rail links, metro etc are apparently mentioned individually.

Also according to the Málaga government, the contract for the sewage plant will be awarded in the next 15 to 20 days.
