The President of the Málaga Provincial Fire Consortium, Abdeslam Lucena, has been in Nerja to officially receive the planning permission for extension work to be carried out on the temporary fire station by the Burriana roundabout.
Lucena said that he would rather be laying the first stone for the new Fire Park, but that is out of the question as the Junta de Andalucia says ithas no money for the project and cannot or will not hand over the €1.8 million funding agreed with Málaga Provincial Council. Nerja, for its part, ceded the land for the new Fire Park back in 2009.
