Nerja Council has unanimously approved the launch of the Senior Card (Carnet del Mayor) to promote the active participation of older members of the community in various activities and events.
Holders of the Senior Card will be entitled to free entry to certain municipal events and more favourable prices relating to cultural and leisure events. Efforts are also being made to persuade private companies to offer a discount for cardholders.
To qualify for the Senior Card, applicants must be over 65 years or pensioners over 60 years and registered in Nerja for at least four years.
