Local Police in Vélez-Málaga have arrested a 35 year old man who was in the process of stealing 150 kilos of avocados from a farm in Cabrillas. Unfortunately, his two accomplices fled the scene and have not yet been identified.
The thieves were surprised in the middle of their efforts and, judging by the empty boxes in their possession, had been planning to take far more of the crop.
Thefts of all sorts of crops, as well as farm equipment, have been rife in the Axarquia for several years now, much as a result of the financial crisis.
