Málaga Provincial Council has allocated €68,136 to adapt the bullring in Carratraca to meet the requirements of law 68/2006 governing bullfighting in Andalucia so that the arena can once again be used for the purpose for which it was originally built in 1878.
Work has already started and is expected to be completed in August. There will be new bull pens, a corridor for the bulls to reach the arena and safety measures are to be improved in the stands.
The bullring is seen as of great historic and tourist value.
