Bullfighting to return to Carratraca, Málaga province

Málaga Provincial Council has allocated €68,136 to adapt the bullring in Carratraca to meet the requirements of law 68/2006 governing bullfighting in Andalucia so that the arena can once again be used for the purpose for which it was originally built in 1878.

Move to ban bullfighting in Andalucia

The Andalucian Parliament Bureau has agreed to accept a legislative initiative from the Commission Investigating Animal Abuse (CIMA) to make an amendment to the regional law of animal protection to place a ban on bullfighting within the region as well as prohibiting any bull shows which result in the death or suffering of the animal.

The Cataluña parliament has voted in favour of banning bullfighting in the region, the forst mainland region in Spain to do so. The Canary Islands banned bullfighting in 1991.
