The Fiesta Blanca in Nerja had a late change of venue this year, Torrecilla beach being preferred to the regular El Salon beach as the location for this summer celebration.
The beach was prepared, the far end being flattened, and the stage was erected on the sand. Stroke of genius. In came the sea, as it does, and that was that, the Fiesta Blanca had to be cancelled.
Plaza Tutti Frutti became the main destination for those wandering around town dressed all in white, but not quite the same as a ‘beach party’. Many locals took to Twitter to vent their disappointment as the news of the cancellation began to filter through.
