Six people were injured, four of them very seriously, following a gas explosion at a shop selling cannabis seeds and fertiliser in Carabanchel, Madrid.
The explosion occurred at 18:50 in the basement of the shop in calle Guabairo. Four men aged between 24 years and 29 years were seriously injured in the blast, suffering burns to between 30% and 75% of their bodies.
Three of the injured were taken to the La Paz hospital while a fourth was transferred to the Burns Unit in Getafe.
The explosion is thought to have been caused by gas bottles in the basement although a preliminary investigation by firefighters noted that the bottles themselves had not been affrected by the blast.
