Police have arrested 18 people and charged a further three in connection with the possession and distribution of child pornography following an operation carried out in 17 provinces.
Amongst the detainees is a German national convicted in his home country for similar offences.
The operation was carried out using an American software designed to locate and identify pedophiles by tracking P2P networks used to share, distribute and download files with child pornographic content.
One detainee in Madrid was in possession of 49 hard-drives and 30 cases of CD’s and DVD’s containing huge amounts of material of a sexual nature involving minors.
The arrests were made in Madrid (2), Santiago de Compostela (1), Sevilla (1), Córdoba (2), Ibiza (1), Burgos (1), Valladolid (1), Cartagena (1), Alicante (2), Las Palmas (1), Bilbao (1), Málaga (1), Barcelona (1), Oviedo (1) and Vigo (1). The three people also charged were from Madrid, Valladolid and Gijón.
