The first migrant boat of the new year has been intercepted off the coast of Granada, the 51 sub-Saharan passengers including 17 women and 9 children.
A family member of one of the passengers alerted the authorities that the vessel had set off from Morocco and a Maritime Rescue vessel was sent to intercept.
The boat was located 57 miles off Motril and the passengers, all of whom were said to be in good health, were transferred to the port.
