Summer beach stats

The municipal statisticians have been hard at work once more following the end of the official summer bathing season.

The Councillor for Beaches has reported that, despite the huge influx of people on the beaches of Nerja and Maro, normalcy has been the dominant feature and the green flags were flying for 62% of the time. yellow for 26% and red for 12% of the summer period.

The lifeguards on the various beaches were involved in 709 interventions, with 57% of these relating to minor injures, 15% relating to jellyfish stings, 3% relating to burns and 4% relating to traumas. They were also involved in assistance to people with wheelchairs, location of missing children and actions relating to injured animals, floating objects and, apparently, lost or badly parked vehicles.
