Beach quality flags are flying in Nerja

Nerja town hall is reporting that Quality Q flags have been hoisted on El Chucho, Torrecilla and Burriana beaches.

The flags are awarded by the Spanish Tourist Quality Institute to signify that the beaches meet stringent standards in line with UNE-ISO 13009, a standard agreed at international level in more than 90 countries.

In order for a beach to fly the “Q” flag, it must meet or exceed the above-mentioned guidelines for the services it offers.

These services include equipment for public use, toilets, rescue and first aid stations, beach cleaning equipment and waste removal.

The “Q” flag is the only beach flag issued by Spanish authorities and is the standard all public beaches aspire to obtain.
