Dal Toscano open again

The popular Italian restaurant Dal Toscano has reopened in its new location in calle Pintada, Nerja.

Apple pie and cream at Fitzgerald’s

Fitzgerald’s is the latest Irish bar in Nerja (did you know there is even an Irish bar in Ulan Bator?), lacted in calle Los Huertos, number 40.

Mushrooms at Jaime’s

Hadn’t been to Jaime’s in calle Jaén, Nerja, for a long time so decided to remedy the situation, as one does. I had a very tasty mushroom, onion, ham and garlic tapa. Small beer and a tapa, €1.50, so about average these days.

Grand opening of Rafiki’s

Manny’s Bar on calle Fray Junipero Serra in Nerja has a new owner as of June 1st 2014, one Doug Turner, and the new bar is going to be called Rafiki’s – which is Swahili for ‘friends’ in case anyone was wondering.

Ninfea

The former Sol y Mar in Plaza La Marina, Nerja, has now become Ninfea, an Italian restaurant.

Chick peas and wine

Had a rather nice chick pea concoction at Torero at the junction of calle Antonio Millón and calle Chaparil, Nerja, washed down with a glass of Frigiliana wine. The bullfighting theme of the bar will not be to everyone’s taste, of course, but at least the TV was showing the bulls winning for a change. It was €2 for wine and tapas.

No more Pisces

The Pisces fish and chip restaurant in calle El Barrio, Nerja, has closed just five months after its grand opening on December 6th 2013.

Coffee and chocolate cake at La Tienda

Coffee and a slice of chocolate cake was my choice at La Tienda, near the church in Frigiliana. Light and fluffy in texture and with a warm chocolate sauce, it made a nice change from the more traditional ‘heavier’ cakes one normally finds.

Tapas at the enlarged La Taberna

Nothing much has changed in La Taberna really, except for being larger after taking over the old Sardina Alegre and prices going up slightly. Same friendly service.
