Living Nativity in Almayate

Almayate, in Málaga province, is once again staging a Living Nativity scene with around 150 participants and 10 technicians.

Almayate pedal power

Sunday May 23rd is the XVI Day of the Bicycle in Almayate, Vélez-Málaga, with the event starting at around 11:00 near the restaurant Lo Pepe Molina. The circuit covers 2.4 kilometres and is non-competitive. There will be a prize draw.

Almayate pilgrimage cancelled

The Brotherhood of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (Hermandad del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús) in Almayate, Vélez-Málaga, has decided to suspend this year’s pilgrimage due to the death last Monday of one of the members of its governing body. The man died after being hit by an ox cart during the preparations for the pilgrimage.

Ox cart tragedy in Vélez-Málaga

A 67 year old man died yesterday at the Hospital Comarcal in Vélez-Málaga as a result of injuries received when he fell in front of an ox cart.

Jellyfish in Almayate

Around twenty jellyfish were washed ashore yesterday on the beach in Almayete and Civil Protection cordoned off the area as a precautionary measure to prevent possible injury to anyone walking along the beach.

Beach damage in Vélez-Málaga

According to a report by the Civil Protection in Vélez-Málaga, the beaches in the municipality have lost around 1,184,000 cubic metres of sand during the storms of the past few days and the priority now is to try and get the beaches into good shape for the upcoming Easter holidays.

Almayate Nativity play

Rain forced the postponement last week of the Nativity play in Almayate but this has now been rescheduled for today and tomorrow.

More orange slicks

The seas near the beaches of Rincón de la Victoria and Benajarafe are the latest to witness orange slicks, previously these were seen in Nerja and Almayate.
