Two arrested for fruit thefts

National Police officers have arrested two people for allegedly stealing around 200 kilos of avocados, mangoes, chirimoyas and other citrus fruits from a farm in Almayate.

Thieves target entire urbanisation in Almayate

A woman walking her dogs on the beach in Almayate, Vélez-Málaga, raised the alarm after noticing something not quite right at a beachfront urbanisation of apartments used as second homes. It turned out that all the apartments in the urbanisation, some thirty properties, had been robbed.

Renovation of calle Camelia 60% complete

The renovation of calle Camelia in Almayate is apparently 60% complete, according to the Councillor for Urban Planning and Infrastructure, Concepción Labao, and should be finished in May 2013. The project is costing €168,317  and is being funded through the Program for the Promotion of Employment in Agriculture (Profea).

Upcoming roadworks in Torre del Mar, Almayate and Vélez

In the coming weeks, work is expected to start on renovations to calle Infantes in Torre del Mar, calle Cristo del Cerro in Vélez-Málaga and calle Camelia in Almayate, the cost of the works being €485,000 and financed, quite logically, under the Program for the Development of Agricultural Employment (Profea).

Drugs haul in Almayate

Guardia Civil officers in Vélez-Málaga have intercepted a shipment of just over 1,700 kilos of hashish which was brought ashore near Almayate.

The German container ship ‘K Wave’ which ran aground in heavy seas near Almayate, Vélez-Málaga, was successfully re-floated on Wednesday afternoon.
