Order has been restored…

Equilibrium has returned to the world as we know it, proper order has been restored after a brief but strange state of flux and all is well once more. Yes, both ice cream ladies are now on the Balcon de Europa.

Green Party rally

On Sunday April 10th, while much of the town celebrated Dia del Residente – Residents Day – in Plaza de España, the Nerja Green Party held an anti-nuclear rally on the Balcon de Europa.

Jingle patter…

A lot of people around town at the moment, the Balcon de Europa veritably buzzing. Quite a few large tour groups wandering around today. Lovely weather for it, and the forecast for the re-arranged Residents day on Sunday is good.

Bugle bands on the Balcon

Bands of trumpets, bugles and drums will be performing outside the El Salvador church on the Balcon de Europa on Sunday from 13:00.

Sunday stroller…

Sunday was a cloudy day, but at least it wasn’t cold or raining, very pleasant in fact, and there were quite a few tour groups milling around town, particularly on the Balcon de Europa. All the bars and cafes appeared to be doing a good trade, most of the terraces pretty full at lunchtime.

Relatively speaking…

The weather really has taken a turn for the better during the past few days and it seems to be bringing people out of hibernation. The Balcon de Europa was verging on ‘packed’ today, which is encouraging.

Busy, busy…

Sunday was quite a glorious day and the centre of town, particularly around the Balcon de Europa, was verging on ‘busy’. All the pavement cafes were doing a roaring trade, so maybe a good sign for the rest of the year. Many will certainly be hoping so.

Whiter than white

Parts of the Balcon de Europa are currently getting a new lick of paint, these include the emblematic arches and the safety railings.

Strange ending…

At least the rain stopped and the skies cleared for the New Year celebrations on the Balcon de Europa. There was a good crowd, although by no means as packed as it used to get in years gone by. You could even get a drink at the bar virtually without having to wait in a queue.

That’s more like it…

Despite very thick, dark clouds over the hills early this morning it turned out to be a glorious day, hot even. A nice break from the recent wet and cold. Quite a few people were back in shorts and there were even more donning t-shirts once more, enjoying it while it lasts.
