A walk along the Camino de Burriana…
Wednesday was quite windy in general, but it did’t stop people flocking to Burriana beach. Not many in the bars or restaurants around midday as they were all soaking up the sun. All the services are now operational on the beach, such as lifeguards and First Aid, and Wednesday was a ‘yellow flag’ day.
Antena 3 Televisión report ‘live’ from Burriana beach
A team from Antena 3 Televisión were down on Burriana beach today for a ‘live’ broadcast for the three o’clock news. Presenter Manuel Álvarez conducted a number of interviews with members of the public, basically discussing the weather situation in Nerja.
Out and About May 5th 2013…
A glorious day and quite a few people down on Burriana beach and around lunchtime most of the merenderos were full to the rafters – Ayo’s, La Barca and José Cruz in particular.
Tapas at El Rey de la Tapa
El Rey de la Tapa is a recent addition to the scene at Burriana beach in Nerja and is located almost opposite Ayo’s at the far end. The bar is spacious and there is a terrace. The bar counter is stone, which is a nice touch but can make your drink wobble on occasion.
Paella at Merendero Moreno, Burriana beach, Nerja
Having decided that today was ‘paella day’, I headed off to Burriana beach. I decided to try the paella at Merendero Moreno, and for two reasons: one, I haven’t had paella there before and two, more importantly, it was the only place with a table free. Should have been a clue!

Quite a lot of people down on Burriana beach today and the beachfront Merenderos were doing a very good trade, as they always seem to do. Good food, decent prices and nice atmosphere.

The Provincial Junior Volleyball Championship took place on Burriana beach at the weekend with 35 pairs taking part, 27 female and 8 male.
Burriana on a glorious day…
There were a few people sunbathing on Burriana beach over the weekend, a lot more taking advantage of the beachfront merenderos to enjoy a nice paella. The area is obviously gearing up for Semana Santa, the first major holiday period of the year.
