Preparing for Easter

Ten days to Easter, the first major holiday period of the year, and campaigns are under way to promote domestic tourism in Andalucia.

Gathering up the rubbish

Sunday October 17th sees the fourth bottom-cleaning exercise to be carried out by volunteer divers, an event organised by Buceo Costa Nerja on Burriana beach and supported by the Nerja Council and the various merenderos on the beaches.

Green Party cleaning day

The Nerja Green Party is organising a trip on Sunday August 22nd to try and clean up some of the graffiti along the rio Chillar and are inviting everyone to participate in what they believe will be a pleasant day out helping the environment.

Cleaning up the riverbeds

The company Egmasa are due to start clearing and cleaning the various riverbeds and ravines in the municipality, including in the Burriana area.

Rio Chillar clean-up has been postponed

The Councillor for the Environment, José Miguel Jimena, and the the president of Casa Argentina, Oscar Sánchez, have decided to postpone the cleaning of the Rio Chillar riverbed planned for Sunday.

Rio Chillar cleaning session

The Councilor for the Environment, José Miguel Jimena, has announced plans for a ‘clean-up’ of a stretch of the Rio Chillar riverbed, a project to be carried out in conjunction with the Casa de Argentina.

Bottom cleaning

Around 150 volunteers took part in a sea bed cleaning operation in Torrox yesterday, removing some fifty kilos of rubbish from the area near the mouth of the river Torrox.

AEN survey

A survey of the members of the Asociación de Empresarios de Nerja (AEN) – The Association of Employers in Nerja – has revealed that the main concerns of the 300 members are cleaning, parking and security.

50th anniversary activity

The Councilor for Culture, Angélica Portillo, has announced that the committee responsible for organising activities relating to the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the discovery of the Nerja Caves has organised activities for June 5th, World Environment Day.
