Woman dies in fire in Andújar

A 43 year old woman died in the early hours of Monday morning following a fire at her third floor home in calle Isidoro Miñón in Andújar, Jaén province. Her 20 year old daughter was also injured, suffering burns to her arms, and is now in the Hospital Alto Guadalquivir in Andújar

Proposed strike averted in Jaén

A proposed indefinite strike by employees of FCC, the company responsible for street cleaning in Jaén, has been averted after the company paid the outstanding wages for November and the December bonus wages. The strike had been scheduled to start on December 23rd.

4,000 without water in Lopera

Man dies after fall near Valdepeñas

A 33 year old man died on Monday after falling down a ravine while out picking mushrooms in an area between Valdepeñas and Frailes in Jaén province. The man is thought to have been walking along the road in search of mushrooms when he slipped and fell down the ravine, hitting his head on a rock.

Eight minors evacuated after roof collapses in Jaén

Eight minors had to be evacuated from a detention centre in calle Nuestra Señora del Perpetuo Socorro in Jaén on Tuesday night following the partial collapse of the roof. No-one was injured in the incident and the detainees were relocated to another shelter run by the same association.

Protests by goat herders

Goat herders have been carrying out protests at the premises of the two major milk companies in Andalucia, Forlactaria in Antequera and García Baquero in Jaén, accusing them of monopolising and dominating the market.
