Junta de Andalucia settles debt owed to lawyers

The Junta de Andalucia has today paid €6.5 million to the Andalucian Council of Bar Associations to ensure that the legal aid system continues to function. The Junta also paid €7.4 million in February and March as part of a commitment to settle outstanding debts with 7,000 lawyers providing legal aid services.

Junta de Andalucia cuts funding to Nerja

The Junta de Andalucia has cut funding to Nerja for 2013 from regional taxes by 13%, with the PP claiming that this goes against a regional law passed in 2010 stating that participation in regional taxes should be progressive in order to facilitate decentralisation. Presumably this meant progressive in an upward direction.

Several municipalities planning protests over non-payment by the Junta de Andalucia

The Ronda Councillor for Employment has announced plans to set up a schedule of protests by municipalities affected by the payment defaults of the Junta de Andalucia. Ronda, owed €1.5 million for an active employment plan, will join with municipalities such as Vélez-Málaga, Marbella, Estepona and Antequera.

The president of the Junta de Andalucia, José Antonio Griñán, is due to meet with the new leader of the PP-A, Juan Ignacio Zoido, to discuss a proposal by Zoido to save €500 million and avoid having to reduce the salaries of officials.

The Junta de Andalucia is today expected to approve the Second Integrated Plan of Action for Persons with Disabilities in Andalucía 2011-2013, including new tax benefits for this group.
