Market in the Plaza de España

On March 2nd, 3rd and 4th (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) there will be a rural natural products and tourism market in the Plaza de España organised by the Federation of Licensed Businesses of the Natural Parks of Andalucia (FASEPAN).

A weekly street market for Nerja?

A weekly street market in the centre of Nerja, designed to boost the local economy, is an idea being proposed by the CCAN (Centro Comercial Abierto de Nerja) and the AEN (Asociación de Empresarios de Nerja).

The market is ON.

So, the lots have been drawn and the Nerja market is definitely on for next Tuesday, April 21st, according to the Councilor for Markets, José Miguel Jimena Ortega.

Bits and bobs…

A few weeks ago, the Little Flock cafe on the Balcón de Europa fell by the wayside and now, in its place, we have El Apero, a restaurant. At least it is still almost a case of one disappears, one appears. A good sign. The latest date for the restart of the weekly Nerja market is Tuesday April 21st.

As was pretty much to be expected, the rumoured return of the market failed to materialise. However, work is still going on at the site, so it could be fairly soon. Council and Market Traders sign agreement

Representatives of Nerja Council, the Market Traders Association and the Union CC.OO have signed an agreement which should see progress towards the return of a market to the town.

Market operational by Easter?

The Council and the Market Traders have agreed upon a number of measures to improve the Almijara site and, with a following wind, the market could reappear just before or during the Easter week.

Ultimatum time for the market

It is 33 weeks since the last weekly market in Nerja, but we could now be entering a new phase in the dispute.
