The III Andalucia Darts Cup was held in Maro at the weekend with 264 participants, 92 pairs and 80 in the singles, and the results were as follows:

Local Maro resident charged with attempted murder

A 31 year old resident of Maro, initials MCC, has been remanded in custody in Alhaurín de la Torre prison for the alleged crime of attempted murder after an incident in the village on October 31st which left a man with twelve stab wounds.

Social Services office to open in Maro

The Council is setting a Social Services office in Maro to be located in the Municipal Multipurpose Centre and will initially be staffed two mornings per month, the first and last Wednesday each month.

Never noticed that before…

Well, amazing. From one point in Maro, you can actually see and get a shot of the Balcón de Europa in Nerja (+/- 5 kilometres) AND the lighthouse in Torrox (+/- 14 kilometres). Never knew that. OK, a bit far for a DECENT shot, but it’s a shot.

Boy seriously injured in boating accident in Maro

A 12 year old boy was seriously injured today, Saturday, in a boating accident near Maro. The boy came into contact with the propeller of a zodiac in which he was travelling with others.

Social worker for Maro

The Council has approved a motion to provide the village of Maro with the service of a social worker, initially for one day per month. The office will be in the Municipal Multi-purpose Centre.

Maro Carnival 2012

Carnival in Maro will take place on Saturday February 25th with the procession through the streets starting at 17:00 and the burial ceremony at 22:30. Most of the other activities will take place in the Social Centre.

Fiesta de San Antón 2012

The Fiesta de San Anton in Maro has been brought forward to this weekend, the 14th and 15th, although there will still be a Mass held on the actual festival day, January 17th.

Unicaja in Maro

The Unicaja branch office in Maro will not now be closing, at least not for the time being, so good news for the residents of Maro.

Council asking Unicaja not to close its Maro branch

The Council is to urge Unicaja not to close its branch in Maro as it would have a particular impact on the elderly in the village who rely on the bank for such things as matters relating to pensions. The bank has been serving the village for thirty years.
