Sierra Nevada ski resort open again

The Sierra Nevada ski resort opened again yesterday after being forced to close for five days last week, Monday to Thursday and Saturday, due to high winds.

Ski resort remains closed

The Sierra Nevada ski resort remains closed for a fourth consecutive day as winds of up to 130 kph batter the area. When the storm passes, the recent snowfalls mean that around 17 kilometres of pistes should be open and skiable.

Around 6,600 people visited the Sierra Nevada ski resort over the weekend, 4,000 of these being skiers. There were seven kilometres of skiable pistes and six lifts were in operation. With the right weather conditions during the coming days, it is possible that the main El Río run could open shortly.
