Good skiing this weekend in the Sierra Nevadas

The Sierra Nevada ski resort opened today with 43 kilometres of skiable pistes with more areas, including El Rio, open to the public. The snow cover ranges from 20 cms to 1 metre of good powder snow.

The Sierra Nevada ski station will open on Saturday November 26th with 26 kilometres of skiable pistes in Borreguiles, Veleta (10 red, 8  blue and 11 green runs)  and, for the first time on an opening day, in Laguna de las Yeguas.

Snow in the Sierra Nevadas in recent days has ensured that the ski station will almost certainly open as planned on November 26th, with between 25 and 30 cms of snow having accumulated on the middle and upper areas.

It is the final weekend of the season at the Sierra Nevada Ski Resort in Granada and there are 58.6 kilometres of skiable pistes after fresh snowfalls on Friday. Skiing is possible between 10:00 and 15:30 on Saturday and Sunday.

Night skiing starts at the Sierra Nevada ski resort

Weather conditions permitting, of course, night skiing is possible at the Sierra Nevada ski resort from now until February. The El Rio piste, 3.258 kilometres in length, will be open every Saturday from 19:00 to 21:30

More areas opening up at the Sierra Nevada ski resort

At the Sierra Nevada ski resort in Granada, there were 73 kilometres of powdery snow pistes open on Boxing Day with 15 lifts operating to take skiers to a total of 81 tracks. More areas are expected to open in the coming days as the snow caterpillars do their work.

Sierra Nevada ski resort closed again

All the pistes at the Sierra Nevada ski resort in Granada are once again closed, the third consecutive day of inactivity on the slopes, due to gusting winds of up to 90 kph.
