The electoral committee of the Partido Popular has officially selected the current Mayor, José Alberto Armijo, as their candidate for the next municipal elections in May 2011.
The Mayor has repeatedly stated during the past three years that he would not be standing for another term but has since had a change of mind.
José Alberto Armijo became a councillor in 1987 and is currently in his fourth term as Mayor of Nerja.
