Vélez-Málaga Council is asking the Department of Coasts to transfer control of the former railway station in Chilches to the municipality so that it can be restored and turned into something useful for the area.
The idea is to make it an office for the Department of Beaches and units of the Red Cross, Civil Protection and Tourist Office.
The Council plans to spend €79,511 renovating the building. They are also asking the Department of Coasts to clean up the facade of the building and fix the roof so as to maintain the former character of the old station.
