The municipality of Cártama, population 24,000, has expanded its sports facilities with the inauguration of the Municipal Sports Complex Guadalhorce, built at a cost of €3 million.
The sports complex currently has a stadium with a running track, a football field and seating for an initial 1,000 people.
The Sports Complex in Cártama is one of 176 projects being undertaken by the regional government in collaboration with local municipalities to make sport and exercise more accessible to the citizens. In Málaga province the total investment is in the region of €107 million and is being funded under various schemes and plans.
