In what is being perceived as a purely party political manoeuvre, the opposition PP has asked for ‘information’ to be provided to show that the hiring of the husband of the new Mayor as an administrative assistant is ‘legal’ and has all the necessary ‘favourable reports’.
It is reported that the PP spokesperson, Nieves Atencia, requested the information solely to make sure that everything was legal and above board.
The Mayor, Rosa Arrabal, reportedly stated that the selection process for administrative positions, with six month contracts, were started by the previous administration and that her husband achieved the third highest score.
The top two were hired at the time and now her husband has also been given a six month contract.
The Mayor is reported as being surprised by the request for information as the PP spokesperson attended the government meetings and had access to all the relevant files.
