New OTTU offices

The president of the Association of Municipalities of the Costa del Sol, Axarquia, Óscar Medina, held a meeting with technicians from the Technical Office of Urban Planning (OTTU) to get to know and to promote the projects being carried out by this dependent department.

Municipal elections

The Minister for Economy, Carmen Martínez, yesterday visited the Axarquía to support the PSOE candidates in Nerja, Torrox and Vélez-Málaga, namely Ángel Ramírez, Francisco Muñoz and Salomé Arroyo.

First Axarquia PGOU’s approved

The messy situation surrounding urban development in the Axarquia is gradually being sorted but, although the Junta de Andalucia pledged that all municipalities in the district would have their PGOU’s (General Plans) approved before the May elections, only two have so far achieved this status.

Eleven bidders for the Camino de Cornisa

Eleven companies have submitted bid to construct the first Camino de Cornisa, a mountain road which will link the communities of El Borge, Vélez-Málaga, Moclinejo, Almáchar, Macharaviaya and Iznate. The project has a budget of €495,000 and is being financed under the Plan for Sustainable Tourism in the Axarquia.

Meeting in Nerja

On Thursday, Nerja was the location for one of the regular meetings of the municipal secretaries of the Axarquia, ostensibly to discuss local public municipal problems in general and those of secretaries, auditors and municipal treasures in particular.

Online health arrives in Arenas and Sedella

The Digital Health Record system, allowing people to make appointments with doctors or arrange prescriptions online, is gradually spreading throughout the Axarquia, Arenas and Sedella now being able to benefit.

New projects under the Plan for Sustainable Tourism

The Mancomunidad de Municipios de la Costa del Sol Oriental-Axarquía (Commonwealth of the Axarquia) is expected to approve four new projects to be financed by the Junta de Andalucia under the Plan for Sustainable Tourism.

Axarquia storm damage estimated at €17.2 million

The Junta de Andalucia has estimated the damage to infrastructure and agricultural crops as a result of the recent storma in the Axarquia at €17.2 million. Measures are being introduced to compensate for lost wages and production in the agricultural sector.

New gym in Alfarnate

Alfarnate Council has officially inaugurated the new gymnasium in the municipality, built at a cost of €90,000 and financed by the Junta de Andalucia.
