Damage to religious image in Córdoba

The Hermandad del Perdón – Brotherhood of Forgiveness – in Córdoba is investigating an incident in which bleach was poured over the blue-green mantle of the Virgen del Rocío y Lágrimas, causing damage.

Álora church damaged by lightning strike

A lightning strike in the early hours of Thursday morning caused damage to the bell tower of the Nuestra Señora de Flores church in Álora, necessitating the cordoning off of the area while technicians examined the extent of the damage.

Drought and frost damage in Andalucia

According to the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Junta de Andalucia, Clara Aguilera, damage due to the drought is estimated at €650 million and damage due to frost is estimated at €180 million.

Storm damage to El Chucho beach

The recent, fairly mild storm has destroyed much of El Chucho beach although Torrecilla beach has remained relatively unscathed apart from a narrow sand ‘shelf’. This situation will continue until such time as adequate breakwaters are put in place.
