Not a smooth start to new fishing agreement

Despite a new fishing agreement between the EU and Morocco finally being in place, for which Morocco receives €40 million, many Cádiz fishermen have once more had to return to port without being able to carry out their task.

Two men who were reported missing on Friday after setting off from Poniente beach in Motril in a small boat have been located and rescued about nine miles off Cabo Sacratif.

Four fishermen were rescued early this morning after their boat caught fire about seven miles off the fishing port of Adra, Almeria. All the crew were rescued in good health.

Compensation scheme for fishermen

Starting tomorrow, July 1st, Andalucian fisherment and boat owners will be compensated when they are unable to work as a result of bad weather.
