33 illegals intercepted off Motril

A boat carrying 33 illegal immigrants, including 9 women and 5 children, was intercepted on Sunday afternoon off the coast near Motril. All are reported to be in good health.

Two drownings off Granada coast within 24 hours

A man in his thirties died today while swimming off Playa Granada in Motril, the second drowning incident off the Granada coast within twenty-four hours. On Monday, a man’s body was retrieved from the sea in Salobreña. Clad in a swimsuit, it is presumed that he died while swimming.

42 paperless travellers intercepted

At around 21:30 on Thursday night, a suspicious boat was spotted about 35 miles off the Granada coast and Maritime Rescue officers proceeded to intercept.

5 pregnant women amongst 39 illegal immigrants

A boat carrying 39 illegal immigrants was intercepted early this morning off the Granada coast. Thirteen of those on board were women, of whom five were in an advanced state of pregnancy.

Marijuana growers arrested

Three men have been arrested in Motril in connection with the cultivation of marijuana and the subsequent sale to minors in schools and colleges in the area.
