Sporting weekend

This weekend there a two major sporting events taking place in Nerja, these being indoor coccer and athletics championships in the junior categories.

Nerja a hit with athletes

In the past four years, the number of Northern European athletes using the facilities at the Enrique López Cuenca Sports Stadium has grown considerably, with over 1,000 expected during the current season.

New Councillor for Sports

The Mountain Bike Race scheduled for last Sunday, a 63 kilometre event forming part of the Málaga Provincial Circuit, although not counting in the overall classification, was indeed cancelled at the last moment by the Councillor for Sports, José Alberto Tomé.

Christmas Sports Campus

For the third consecutive year, the Nerja Basketball Club has organised the campus entitled ‘Tu navidad deportiva’ – Your sporting Christmas – which will take place on December 23rd, 24th, 26 and 27th.

The Councillor for Sports, José Alberto Tomé, has reported that the municipal sports ordinances for 2014 are currently being prepared and that in certain cases, the costs will be lowered.

Your Sporting Christmas

Under the slogan Tu Navidad Deportiva (Your Sporting Christmas), children between the ages of 5 years and 15 years will be able to participate in sporting activities during the Christmas break, most of these taking place in the Enrique López Cuenca Sports Stadium and including basketball, football 7, paddle tennis, badminton, swimming and hiking.

Work on Cártama sports and athletics stadium at a standstill

Work on the new sports and athletics stadium in Cártama is already one year behind schedule, but the Council has approved a motion to engage a new contractor to finish the project and is hoping that work can resume on the facility.
