Simplification in the tourist industry

The Junta de Andalucia is adopting the simplification of various procedures affecting tourism in the region, most notably in connection with Directive 2006/123/CE of December 12th 2006.

Falling tourist numbers

The number of tourists visiting Spain, particularly from the UK, continues to fall as more and more people are opting for holidays outside the Euro zone.

The way forward?

The Iniciativa de Turismo Sostenible – Initiative for Sustainable Tourism – is a scheme designed to enhance and improve tourism in the Axarquia, a district made up of 31 municipalities. The plan envisages an investment of €43.6 in the area, with €24 million being provided by the Junta de Andalucía.

November sees sharp decline in tourist numbers

The number of foreign visitors arriving in Andalucía in November was 17.3% down on the same period last year, a figure which is six points above the national average.

Tourist numbers down for July

Tourist numbers for the month of July were down 8% on last year, although the overall number of visitors during the first seven months of the year was up by 0.2%.
