Suspected arsonist arrested in Valencia
Guardia Civil officers in Valencia have arrested a 34 year old man suspected of starting two fires in Vilamarxant and Ribarroja on Monday. Both fires have been extinguished but the extent of the damage is not yet known. The detainee has a criminal record, although apparently not relating to arson.
Valencia wildfire stabilised
The forest fire in Valencia which has so far destroyed 5,500 hectares of land and affected six municipalities has now been stabilised. Eleven sections of regional roads had to be closed and around 2,000 people had to be evacuated from their homes as a result of the blaze.
