Balcon de Europa, Plaza Cavana, calle Carabeo, calle Jaén

balconsquaredec4A trip round some of the major building works today, see how they’re progressing.

The square behind the Balcón de Europa has the primary surface in place although very little, if any, activity in this area this morning.

The calle Carmen roadworks have now reached the Plaza Cavana works and the whole of the stretch at the side of the church (El Salvador) is now dug up or being dug up.

On to Plaza Cavana and quite a bit of activity today, large holes being dug in the centre of the square.

Calle Jaén is beginning to take shape but work seems to have slowed down quite a bit and it’s hard to see how it will be finished by Christmas as is still the official position. Everyone in the area knows it won’t be finished until the end of January at the earliest, but no official announcements as yet.

Work on phases 2 and 3 in calle Carabeo appear to be moving at the same painstakingly slow rate as in phases 1 and 2. There is a huge hole at one end, getting bigger all the time, with just one workman this morning. At the other end, a digger was breaking up more of the road.

Looks grim. We are in Nerja over new years, as we have done for the past 8 years. In Fact My Male voice choir were in Nerja 2 years ago at the theatre. This looks as if it might be a new experience of The Not so good type.

This websight is of great “value” as it comands up to date information on the state of play.

    Thank You

    Ger.

  3. I have just found your very informative website. I have been visiting Nerja and surrounding area for many years but looking at all the disruption from the photos of the building work I am glad that I am not visiting for the first time at the moment. I wonder if the tour companies are warning their customers about the building work !!!!
It must be very disruptive and noisy for the locals who live in the affected areas and also the businesses who are trying to make a living during the recession.
Lots of interest on your website , thank you
