Employers and unions reach an agreement to end the cleaning strike in Madrid

The three companies in charge of the cleaning services have finally reached an agreement to end the industrial action after 12 days of strikes, during which the streets of Madrid were full of rubbish.

Yesterday, the street cleaners and gardeners from Madrid held a series of meetings with union officials in different areas and at different times to ratify the agreement reached after 15 hours of meetings on Friday.

The agreement included a no redundancy clause, 45 days off per year per person for four years, and the possibility of voluntary redundancy with a 28 day compensation package with a maximum of 22 monthly payments.
