Socialists in Málaga and Competa are once again asking the mayor of Competa, José Luis Torres (PP), to remove a statue on the MA-111 which they contend is falangist, contains symbols of the Franco dictatorship and is in violation of Law 57/2007 relating to Historical Memory.
Fatal road accident in Competa
A man died in the early hours of Tuesday morning on the A-7207 in Competa after his vehicle left the road. With the front wheels in the air over the embankment the man apparently opened the door and fell about one hundred metres down the embankment.
Prolific thief arrested in Competa
The Guardia Civil in Competa have arrested a man in connection with 14 burglaries, motorcycle thefts, illegal possession of firearms and other crimes in the Axarquia. The detainee is allegedly responsible for robberies carried out in Torrox, Canillas de Albaida, Cómpeta, Sayalonga and Arenas del Rey (Granada).

August 15th is the annual ‘Noche del Vino’ in Competa, a festival that has grown in importance in the town since it was first held in 1974. The morning activities take place in Plaza de la Vendimia and the evening festivities in Plaza Almijara.
Complaints about rubbish in Cómpeta
