Road traffic courses for students

The Nerja Local Police will once again be holding educational courses for students in the municipality, the principal aim being to make them aware of and to respect the many traffic regulations.

Cars, strays and dog poo

A quieter summer for the tow trucks this year, only 447 vehicles having to be removed from the streets. Last summer the figure was 720, meaning a reduction of 34.7%.

Local Police to share 112 telephone line

Later this month, the Nerja Local Police will be reachable via the 112 Emergency Services telephone number following an agreement signed with the Ministry of Interior.

One new Local Police officer

A new officer has taken up his duties with the Local Police after being sworn in at a ceremony held on Friday. The ceremony was attended by the Mayor, José Alberto Armijo, the Councilor for Security, Jonathan Méndez, the local Chief of Police and various other local officials.

Two detained for illegal street trading

Increased monitoring of illegal street trading, particularly in the beach areas, has resulted in two people being detained on El Playazo beach. Local Police officers detained two people who, without the necessary license, were selling women’s clothes and sunglasses.

Local Police Union send letter of complaint to the Mayor

The Nerja branch of SIP-AN, the Independent Union of Police Officers, has sent a registered letter to the Mayor complaining about the lack of officers on the streets of the town, especially at night and during weekends.

Torrox police refuse to work extra shifts

The majority of Local Police officers in Torrox, around 80% of them, have apparently signed a document refusing to work extra shifts. The document has been handed to the Town Council.
