New wholesale market planned

Vélez-Málaga Council has unveiled plans for a new wholesale market to be located near the Camino de Remanente area in the north of the town.

III Ruta de la Tapa

The III Ruta de la Tapa takes place from March 14th to April 6th 2014 with a total of 21 establishments taking part, up from 18 last year and 15 in the first year.

Woman arrested for violent robbery

A 41-year-old woman has been arrested in Vélez-Málaga after allegedly entering the home of a 79-year-old man, assaulting him and locking him in a room while she stole items from the house.

Restoration of the old Granary building

Restoration of old sugar mill completed

Vélez-Málaga Council has apparently finished the renovation of the old Virgen del Carmen sugar mill building in Torre del Mar, a project which has already cost €2.5 million and taken nine years to complete.

Vélez-Málaga Council has launched a new website where many administrative activities can be carried out online rather than having to make a trip to the Town Hall.

Four arrested for drug trafficking

Four people have been arrested in Vélez-Málaga as part of ‘operación Pekín’, an investigation into drug trafficking in the municipality.
